You win again, gravity!!
Last Sunday was really hot so naturally we had to go to Bondi. Daniel, Debbie and myself took the 380 and after a sweaty half an hour jumped off the bus near the skate park. Me and Debs were determined to get our first burning for the summer, but she packed it in after a few hours and had to go "study".
Damn students, as usual just looking for an excuse to get out of having fun. Humbug.
Anyways me & Daniel started to get bored pretty much straight away (I think he was already.. hehe:) so we started walking around to the north side of the beach where the cliffs are. Daniel's a bit of a photographer so every so often he'd stop and set up his camera for some shot or another. I haven't seen any of his stuff yet but it should be interesting to see what he got from that day.
We made it to the cliffs on the north side and decided to see if we could keep going all the way around. It's a pretty long way when you have to climb over and under boulders to get there. I've done quite a bit of this sort of thing before so I was ahead of Dan when I got to the next corner and discovered we couldn't go any further without risking being dashed against the rocks by the surf. I communicated this to Daniel who started taking photo's of the surrounding cliffs while I tried to find a way back up to where he was.
To get up to the level he was on, I had a choice to either take the long way around, about 5 minutes, of hoof it up about 2 metres. Of course I took the 2 metre climbing option. There were 2 boulders side by side, with me standing on another underneath and in-between me and them a 40cm gap which dropped down again to the surf. This made it kinda imperative I made it and didn't slip down the gap. As you can guess I didn't make it, I slipped, but managed to stop myself before I fell through the hole. Damn that shit gets the adrenaline pumping! I didn't even notice that I was injured until I noticed blood dripping onto the rocks.
I guess this means I need to do this sort of thing more often. I feel like, as soon as these wounds heal I wanna get back out there and do some more climbing. But this time I might bring my shoes..
