Working

Just got a new job prospect. Yeah! 3 month contract, development. Got called up by a recruitment guy this morning, in for a quick interview and then a technical exam. Fsck that admin crap, after the technical interview I kinda knew it wasnt for me. I kinda knew I didnt know enough about it as well :-)

So could be goodbye Bourbon, welcome back to programming. And decent money... yay! first thing i wanna get is a decent digikam..

Haven't really been into contracts before, but the money is way better than full time. I guess the trick must be getting enough contracts... and I think for a linux programmer there aren't even that many full-time jobs, from what I've seen looking for work in Sydney anyway.

Trashy

Nick our beloved flat mate has gone back to brissy. In celebration(mourning?) of this, Saya, Miko and Anze made us some lovely sushi... everyone had a go at making it, it's actually quite easy... Kinda like rolling a cigarette.

Drinks of beer and vodka lime sodas and rum (the wife-beater) followed. Had a arm-wrestling competition with Nick, winner gets a shot of vodka. After 3 rounds I declared Nick the winner and we just ended up by taking shots. So between maybe 2 or 3 people 800ml of vodka. Nice.

So of course we just had to go out, went to the Q bar on Oxford St. ... all trashiness from there on in. I saw Tom bird and smashed his beer all over a pool table trying to shake his hand. Fell over couches. Almost tripped over my own feet trying to dance...

Needless to say, this morning was terrible. I had a job interview at 11 during which I sweated like a pig and tried my best to recover enough of my damaged brain cells to answer questions. Luckily enough it was only a "getting to know you" interview. Hope I make it to the technical interview!

I really do want this job. "IT Configuration specialist" which from the information I have is essentially an administration role with team-leader and development thrown in. Linux skills mandatory, just as their use of Linux is mandatory for me to want to work there. I've done about 4 years of software development, and I think it's high time I expanded my skillset to include administration. They are wanted everywhere all the time after all!
